PPP - Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

If you read this post about the basement renovation then you may remember this door . . .

. . . and my promise to open it at a later date.
Behind it is the Potential for a nice, cozy bedroom.  Shall we take a look?
I'm ready if you are.

PPP - Frivolité

I realized the other day that I have yet to share any tatting here.  And today I was thinking it has been a while since the last PPP.   Well, how neglectful of me!  Please, allow me to make amends.

Ebeneezer

For my family members who have never seen Eb in "person."

Going Old School

I could also have titled this post Ode to a Machine, but ultimately, it's about the dream of a studio space becoming a reality.  The idea of having a place for everything and everything in its place. . .and task oriented areas, tools and machines.  And with the help of an old friend, I'm one step closer to that reality.

A Little Geography Lesson

There is a country called Procrastination.  It's located just north of a country called The Last Minute, of which I am Queen!

The Bothell High School All Alumni Picnic took place today, starting at 11:00 am.

When did I finish the raffle quilt?

Today.

About . . . let's see . . . around . . .10:30 am.

Hail to the Queen!

And The Walls Came Tumbling Down

Well, not exactly.

It was only one wall, and it didn't come tumbling down, and nobody named Joshua led the charge and no trumpets were blown.

So, really, not even close!

Beating the Heat

Okay, I admit that 88-90 degrees doesn't qualify as extreme weather in  some  many  most people's minds.  However, around here it doesn't happen very often so when it does, it is  unbearable  noticed.  This latest warm spell brought to mind a few (and I do mean few) memories.  Pardon me while I reminisce.  I remember - having to sleep without covers at night; the butter, which was kept in the cupboard, reduced to a soft, sloppy heap; being able to wear real summer clothes in the shade; walking down the middle of the road on the white line to avoid burning our feet on the asphalt; being able to stay out on the ferry deck without getting chilled.
That memory of a ferry ride during a heat wave back in the early 80s is what prompted yesterday's outing.

BHS Raffle Quilt

We're Going on a Bear Cougar Hunt

Some interesting facts about Puma concolor:
  • It holds the Guinness record for the animal with the highest number of names - over 40 in English alone.  The list includes cougar, mountain lion, mountain cat, catamount, panther, puma, and my favorite - mountain screamer.
  • It has the greatest range of any large terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America.  It is found in every major American habitat type.
  • It is the second heaviest cat in the Western Hemisphere, the jaguar being first.
  • It is closer genetically to the domestic cat than to true lions.  Don't let it go to your head, Eb.
  • It is nocturnal, most active at dawn and dusk.  Hmm, sounds familiar.
  • Aside from humans, no species preys upon mature cougars in the wild.  We're talking top of the food chain here.
Well, this human is going hunting from the safety of her living room and no cougars will be harmed in the making of this quilt.  The well-being of little kitty cousins - that remains to be seen.
