Quilts in the Queue

queue  [kyoo]  noun, verb, queued, queuing.
 1.  a braid of hair worn hanging down behind. (did you know this? I didn't)
 2.  a file or line, especially of quilts people waiting their turn.
 3.  Computers. a FIFO-organized sequence . . . ok, you lost me there.

This word used to stump me.  I never knew quite how to pronounce it.  I do now, and I can even use it in a sentence.  Especially in a quilty kind of context.  For instance, I have three quilts in the commission queue.

PPP - A Basement Full

Yay!  I remembered to take before pictures!

One of the bloggers I follow sometimes shares "keeping it real"  pictures after showing the tidied, nicely arranged shots of a finished project.  As these pictures will show you, I just stick to the "real" shots.  Let's start with the grand tour.

PPP - Weed better be sure

To pull, or not to pull, that was the question.  This little thing sprouted up, random and, at first, unidentifiable by me.  I know some  most would have pulled it without hesitation.  I tend to use the waitandseeifitbloomsbecauseitmightbepretty method. I couldn't help thinking of its. . . Potential.

From a chorus line to a ballet

A few years ago, I came across a quilting book called Wonderful 1 Fabric Quilts by Kay Nickols.  I liked the idea of taking a single, striped fabric and manipulating transforming it into something quite different.  Okay, I admit it, I'm a manipulator.  Yeah,  I know, that word has a reputation for being used in a negative way.  That is a shame because the first definition I just read (have you noticed yet that I'm into words?) was this:  to move, arrange, operate or control by the hands or by mechanical means, especially in a skillful manner (I really liked that last phrase).  So, by that definition, we quilters are ALL manipulators!  Bwahaha (ahem) It's a good thing.  Really.

Just a Tease

Thanks to Lori for the photo.  Check out her blogs, here & here.
My new cutting garden is teasing me with hints of what's to come.  There was only one blossom on each of these plants (except the campanula, which is not new to this garden, and the linaria, which apparently is an over-achiever).  Thus is created the Sampler Bouquet.
